With summer right around the corner, many Ohioans are considering their summer vacation options. A popular option? The great American road trip.

While not everyone has the time to devote entire weeks to driving across the United States, many people are able to take a long weekend. Fortunately, Ohio is centrally located and a great place to start for many long weekend road trips. So grab your favorite road trip buddy and snacks, create a playlist you can sing along to, and hit the open road!

Chicago, Illinois

Less than a six-hour drive from Columbus, the Windy City offers plenty of options, no matter your interests! Visit world-renowned museums, shop the day away on the Magnificent Mile and eat Chicago’s famous deep-dish pizza. Experience art and city life, or catch a play on one of Chicago’s many stages.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Sitting at one of the many access points to the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg is an off-the-beaten-path destination. Check out the Gatlinburg Space Needle, which offers amazing views of the Great Smoky Mountains, or enjoy some hiking that’s sure to excite anyone with a love for the outdoors.

St. Louis, Missouri

Experience the Midwest from unbelievable heights at the world-famous Gateway Arch. Located on the Mississippi River, you can take in breathtaking views and amazing blues music, all in one destination.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Louisville, Kentucky
